The Cathedral of St. John is the seat for the Diocese of Lafayette and is located near downtown Lafayette. This beautification was completed around 1918. The St. John live oak tree, located next to the cathedral is one of the greatest examples of Louisiana live oaks. The age of the tree has been estimated to be between four and five hundred years.
