This drawing is a tribute to the many country doctors who would go to the homes of Cajun families to treat and comfort the sick and assist in the deliveries of the new-borns (sometimes I suspect they would arrive after the birth). The house depicted here is still around and is located just north of Church Point. Because it has been remodeled many times it doesn't look the same today.
