The Opelousas Gulf and NE railline ran from Opelousas and Crowley going through Church Point. It carried bails of cotton and other farm commodities picked-up along the way and brought to market. At one time there was also a passenger train on the line. As a kid raised in the country near Church Point, I remember well hearing whistles of the "Old O. G." as it went through Church Point.
